Suganda Sreenath IyerFounded in 1989, Jayendra Kalakendra is dedicated to mentoring young minds and to expose them to the Indian Culture through the Dance medium of Bharatanatyam. The school had its beginnings in the city of Secunderabad, the twin city of Hyderabad, in Southern India. Several students enrolled and the school grew quickly, with classes every day of the week. One of the students did her Arangetram in May 1991, after going through a rigorous 2 year practice schedule. The school moved to USA in 1991 when the Artisitic Director, Suganda Sreenath Iyer migrated to San Jose. Rapid growth has ensued in the Bay Area, with studios in Cupertino and Fremont in addition to San Jose, where it is headquartered.

The school performs regularly in the Bay Area Cultural events celeberating Telugu New Year's Day (Ugadi), Tamil New Year's Day, Diwali (Festival Of Lights), Arudhra Festival, Himalayan Festival of Music and Dance etc. Students peform regularly in the Bay Area temples such as the Livermore Temple, Concord Temple, Sunnyvale temple, Sanatana Dharma Kendra, Milpitas temple etc. Students who have graduated from the school continue to participate in school classes, teaching new students or choregraphing and peforming in prestigious events such as Kalpana conducted by Yuva Bharati.
