When we are very young, our bodies are supple. That means they can tumble and toss and turn and bend. How often have you pretended that you are a lion crouching on a chair ready to spring? And what a spring you make, landing just anywhere and not bothering about getting hurt! Then in another moment, you are an American Cowboy shooting and being shot at and falling with such ease!
Well, you dont know it, but you are really dancing all the time. The only difference is that when you act the part you dont think much of what you are going to do. But, a dancer always has to think deeply and arrange it in the best pattern possible.
For instance, if you are to portray the part of a hunter hunting a deer with a bow and arrow, you would first have to think a great deal about the hunter. How did he hold his bow and arrow? In which way would he shoot the deer? This in other words is the Technique, which is the study and practice of everything that is necessary to be a real dancer.
